Happy Leif Erickson Day!
.
Today is the day that Leif Erickson discovered North America - LONG before Christopher Columbus! (Leif beat him out by 492 years!!!!)
In honor of this day, I'm adding photos from the Norway Store in Norway, Illinois. Norway, IL is the first permanent Norwegian settlement in the US. There are interesting woodcarvings inside the store, outdoor paintings in the parking lot, and even some stones painted with a notable Norwegian saying (Uff-da!) as well as the names of some Norwegian delicacies!

I tried lutefish before, and i must say its not the most wonderful thing i ever ate. The texture is what i find different. Had it with a plate of meatballs and lefse.

LOL! I have to agree with you. Though, done well, Lutefisk can be rather tasty...but you still have that texture to deal with....
