And the Blizzard Begins....

Snow started falling last night. At first light, we had a total of 4 inches....but the wind and snow are really kicking up now.

Click on the picture on the left - the two barely discernible red specs are the traffic lights just up the road from me. On the right are the gazebo and tennis courts.

The dog path provided some lovely scenic views this morning. Reminds me of Robert Frost's poem, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening".

Sandy, the intrepid snow lover, is definitely less than thrilled with the blizzard conditions.

The final tally for today's snow: we've added another 10-12 inches - it's hard to gauge exactly because of all the drifting. On the side of the house, the drifts were OVER DH's waist! Unbelievable. We're still under a blizzard warning at 6 pm because of all the blowing and drifting of the snow.

We're officially in the record books for the snowiest winter EVER in Washington DC - 55.6 feet of snow! The most ever on record. Currently, Washington, DC officially has had more snow this year than any other major city in the US with the exception of Syracuse, NY. It even beat out Buffalo! Unreal! Where I live in Virgina, we've had OVER 6 feet of snow - yes....more than 72 inches this winter!!!
