Tea For Two....Or Rather, Cozies For Two

.
In addition to the tea cozy I started for the KAL, I've been busy knitting two additional cozies - for a swap on Ravelry. It was supposed to be a single cozy, but the first one I tried was a lacy one. It's gorgeous, but I just couldn't get my head around the pattern. It was beautiful, but the combination of doing a frost flowers pattern while adding increases on the sides was causing me all kinds of problems - especially since the charts don't SHOW these increases!!! After several false starts, I decided to knit the Flat-Bottomed Cozy instead.

I really like this pattern. It's easy and straight forward - much the opposite of the first one I attempted. I love how it "cuddles" the entire tea pot and cinches closed at the top - you can add water or tea leaves without having to take the cozy completely off. The bottom ensures that you don't "bang" the pot down on counter....buffering and protecting the teapot while at the same time providing a "built in" hot pad!

The only down-side is that it wasn't quite wide enough to fit as well as I'd like around my tea pot. If I were to make it again, I would make it just a smidge wider...and possibly add some sort of "connection" (button? loop and button?) to be used on the handle side under the curve of the handle to take care of the gaps. I worried a bit that this might not fit my partner's tea pot either, so I made another one. (Better to have two...twice the chance that they'll fit - LOL!!!)
The second one I made is really cute and fits a "personal tea pot" perfectly. It doesnt' come around the bottom, but it's so cute that you can't help but love it. It's called "Mr. Puffy". It's a great way to use up those bits and pieces of wool in your stash! I think it can be easily adapted to a larger pot, so there's a possibility that I may make one of these for myself!

I sent the cozies as well as a tea cup and saucer off to my swap partner in France. Of course, I included some tea and some Reeses Peanut Butter Cups that she'd been craving!
